It was named Hy-Brasil, and it was said to be the home of a sophisticated species of humanoids with supernatural abilities. The island appears on maps as early as 1325 and as late as the 1800s, and is located about 200 miles (321 kilometers) off the west coast of Ireland. It gets its name from the term ‘Breasal,’ which means ‘High King of the World’ in Celtic. Angelino Dulcert, a Genoese cartographer, was the first to mark it on a map in 1325.
